Faithful Disciples

Sanctifying Grace heals us from sins and makes us holy. My friend told me, "I will give you five dollars if you give me your candy." I said, " But show me the money first." He showed me the money. I gave him the bag and he ran with my candy to his house and didn't give me the money. Then next my friend received sanctifying grace and gave me back the money during school.

7th and 8th Grade Visit to Loyola Marymount University

On Monday, May 7th, our 7th and 8th graders had a trip to Loyola Marymount University.  They explored the campus and visited one of William Shakespeare's original works.

We want to thank Mr. Metz who organized this great opportunity for our students.

3rd Annual St. Bernard Egg Drop

On Friday, May 4th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders participated in Mr. Heinen's annual Egg Drop competition.

The whole school had a great time watching the upper graders drop their eggs from incredible heights.

Thank you to all of our volunteers that day including Mr. Heinen's parents (pictured below).

3rd Annual St. Bernard Science Fair - Results!

The science superstars at St. Bernard displayed their talents today at the 3rd Annual Science Fair.  Mastery of the scientific method empowered our middle school scientists to experiment with mold growth, homemade phonographs, catapults, air planes, color blindness, and more.  Each student presented their project to two expert judges, who energetically agreed that the interviews reflected deep knowledge and the ability to take it to the next level.

The "Grand Prize" was awarded to Celeste Arellano and Ashley Lanuza for disproving the old wives tale that feeding aspirin to flowers makes them last. Congratulations on a really well thought out and well executed experiment!

First place in 8th grade went to Joel De La Cruz and Darrien Campana for creating a cloud in a bottle using different liquids. The 7th grade first prize went to Matiana Parra for her chromatography analysis of plant pigments.  Jacob Gudani won first place in 6th with his animated movie describing his naked egg experiment.

Second place finishers were:

8th - Jessica Ornelas and Jasmine Espadas - Cloud In A Bottle

7th - Carlos Cruz - Tongue Taste Mapping

6th - Paulo Adrayan and Steven Torres - How Yeast Affects Bread

Third place went to:

8th - Meghan Go - Effects of Different Chemicals on (her own) Human Teeth

7th - Kester Tan and Javier Bernal - Mold Fest

6th - Alex Sanchz - Crystals

The 3rd Annual St. Bernard Science Fair was a huge success.  Congratulations to all of the competitors for a job well done.  We partied like physicists.

Once again THANK YOU! to our judges for donating their time.

And thank you parents for supporting our up and coming scientists!

With pride and appreciation,

Mr. H
